How to enable Data Residency for Elements Publish
Case 1 : New install
When installing Elements Publish , the app will automatically have its data hosted in the same region as the Jira instance (if this region is supported by the app).
If the instance region is not supported by Elements Publish, then the app data will be automatically hosted in US.
Case 2 : App migration
This process is well detailed in the following official Atlassian documentation: Moving your Marketplace apps data to another location.
You will need to move Elements Publish after the completion of Jira migration to your preferred data residency location.
To request a data residency move for apps:
Go to admin.atlassian.com. Select your organization if you have more than one.
Select Security > Data residency.
In the data residency table, select View details.
Select the Eligible tab.
If you have eligible apps, select Move apps.
Review information about the steps involved in moving your eligible apps. Select Next.
Review the apps. Select Next.
Select the 24-hour move window. Select Next.
Review your app data residency move details. Select Submit request.
Data Residency move for Marketplace apps must be requested at least three days in advance.
While Elements Publish is moving its data to the requested location, the product will be offline for up to 24 hours. During this move window, please notify your users and partners that the product will be out of service.
Where will my app data be hosted if my instance is pinned to a region not supported by Elements Publish?
For a new app install on a Jira instance pinned to a location not supported by Elements Publish, the app data will be hosted in the US.
For instance migration to a location not supported by Elements Publish, the app data will remain hosted in the previous supported location (US or Germany) before the migration.
