Editing a Project Table on a copied Confluence page impacts the table on the original page, leading to data loss

Scenario

When a Confluence page containing a Project Table macro is copied, editing the project table on the new page affects the original page's project table macro. This results in shared data between both pages, leading to potential data loss.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Copy a Confluence page that contains a project table.

  2. Edit the project table on the newly created page (Page 2).

  3. Observe that the changes made on Page 2 are also reflected on the original page (Page 1).

Troubleshooting

While we work on fixing this issue, we can propose the following workaround to restore data that was lost.

  • From the original page, access the Project Tables management dialog from the page settings (refer to this page for more information)

All Project Tables macro for the current page will display, along with metadata such as version, size, created, and edited.

  • Locate the macro where data was lost and browse to the version you would like to restore. In order to view the content of the version, click “View” from the Actions column:

The selected version will open in a separate tab in read-only mode. The version update date is contained in the name of the version in order to help you locate it easier.

  • Once you found the correct version to restore, simply do so from the Actions column:
