Elements Pulse

App access management

Elements Pulse is only visible to the users and user groups you grant access to. Access is managed centrally through Jira's own Global Permissions page, not from within Pulse itself.

How it works

A user can access Elements Pulse if they meet either of these conditions:

  • They hold the Jira Administer global permission (site or Jira admins), or

  • They have been explicitly granted the custom global permission Elements Pulse Access.

Jira admins therefore always have access to Pulse by default. The Elements Pulse Access permission is how you extend that access to any other user or user group.

Note: access is currently all-or-nothing. Once a user is authorized (through either condition above), they can view all feedback and data available in Pulse, independently of their individual Atlassian space permissions.

Granting access

  1. Open the Jira Global Permissions page.

  2. Add the users or user groups you want to grant access to the Elements Pulse Access permission. Jira admins don't need to be added, they're authorized by default.

  3. Once added, allow up to about 5 minutes for the change to propagate. After that, Elements Pulse appears in the navigation for the users concerned.

Revoking access

To revoke a non-admin user's or group's access to Pulse, remove them from the Elements Pulse Access permission on the same Global Permissions page. A Jira admin's access can only be removed by revoking their Jira Administer permission.
